James Mills

James is a highly effective coach who helps clients learn how to move with greater intention and control. He never sits back and administers a workout, rather he is there with you encouraging, assisting, and helping you make the most of your effort. He founded Synapse to offer a much-needed counterpoint to the mindless, one-note fitness currently dominating our society. There is a more effective way than slogging through high-rep burpees or running endless miles while you can barely squat down and play with a two-year-old.

James danced ballet professionally for twelve years. He played almost every sport during his childhood and continues to use his body playing in the great Colorado outdoors. He holds a B.A. in Performing Arts from St. Mary’s College of California and a J.D. from the University of Florida. He is a CrossFit Level 1 coach, The Ready State 102 certified Movement & Mobility Coach, and Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, but most importantly, he doesn’t limit himself to any one method, but continues to learn and incorporate various tools and approaches.
