James Mills

James is a highly effective coach who helps clients learn how to move with greater intention and control. He never sits back and administers a workout, rather he is there with you encouraging, assisting, and helping you make the most of your effort. He founded Synapse to offer a much-needed counterpoint to the mindless, one-note fitness currently dominating our society. There is a more effective way than slogging through high-rep burpees or running endless miles while you can barely squat down and play with a two-year-old.

James danced ballet professionally for twelve years. He played almost every sport during his childhood and continues to use his body playing in the great Colorado outdoors. He holds a B.A. in Performing Arts from St. Mary’s College of California and a J.D. from the University of Florida. He is a CrossFit Level 1 coach, The Ready State 102 certified Movement & Mobility CoachFunctional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, and Animal Flow lvl 1 coach but most importantly, he doesn’t limit himself to any one method, but continues to learn and incorporate various tools and approaches.

Alani Carbullido

After a prior career in banking, I made the leap toward my passion for fitness, and now I have been personal training for 7 years. Starting out at Equinox in the Bay Area, CA, I received extensive education on fitness programming, working with people with injuries, and I took advantage of many learning opportunities with more specific certifications. After 3 years I left Equinox to build my own private training business, and in 2021 moved to Colorado where I have found new opportunities to pivot my talents and continue to grow. My certifications and specialties pack in a unique experience for clients and students of mine of all levels. I enjoy pushing my clients past their known limits, and showing people that you are capable of so much more! I am so happy to have landed at Synapse Strength & Movement to work with James, a pro to learn from, and I enjoy coaching at a gym where quality and variety of movement is celebrated!
